Location Del Rey Lagoon, Los Angeles, CA
For my last outing in Los Angeles, I chose to go to the beach. The beach had a small lagoon nearby surrounded by lawn and palm trees and apartment buildings, where I met a very friendly boy with his mom who seemed to be starving for interaction. We talked about birds, hummingbirds in particular.
The blackbirds were in the open on the lawn surrounding the water. I have come across these blackbirds in other areas out west, and I've come to learn that they have quite a personality. They aren't afraid to harass humans -- reminiscent of tree swallows and the red-winged cousins.
