185. Curve-billed Thrasher

Date         May 9, 2007
Location    Squaw Peak, Phoenix, AZ

It was very hot. It was so hot that, despite my zeal and how much fun I was having, I had to rest in the shade of a picnic shelter. Fortunately, the humidity was so low in the desert, that it really was quite cool in the shade.

As I sat in the shelter, he came hopping in. I'm pretty sure it was the bird I saw as I drove in -- or at least the same species. He must be a scavenger of human food because he hopped up on one of the tables. I didn't even need binoculars.

I was quite happy that I had finally gotten one of the western thrashers. I hoped to get more, but in that I would be disappointed.
